The Weather Inside Me
$30.00
A practical guide to emotions for teens. 50 feelings, what each one feels like, what it might be telling you, and simple ideas for what helps. What’s the weather like inside you today?
The Weather Inside Me helps young people understand what they feel and what to do about it. Feelings are a lot like weather. Some arrive quietly, others roll in like a storm, one passes in minutes while another hangs around for days, and sometimes several turn up at once.
The book covers 50 emotions, from the familiar ones like anger, fear, happiness and sadness to the harder ones to name like limerence, apathy, awe and overwhelm. They're grouped into five kinds of emotional weather, Core, Growth, Social, Challenging and Reflective, set out as a simple map so readers can find the feeling they want to understand and start there.
Each emotion gets its own spread with the same three parts: what it feels like in the body, what might help right now as a few practical steps, and what the feeling might be telling you. The idea running through the book is that a feeling is information, not an instruction. Anger might tell you something feels unfair, but it doesn't mean you have to shout. Naming a feeling makes it easier to understand, and understanding it gives you more say in what you do next.
It also makes a point worth teaching early: your feelings are not who you are. You can feel anxious without being an anxious person. You don't have to make every day sunny, just learn to read your own weather and find your way through it.
